First Time "Shopping" in 3 Months

The other day Urban Outfitters sent me an email telling me that they are having their extra 50% off sale deal which comes up roughly 5 times a year. They have the exact same sale during Black Friday except it is way more crowded and only lasts for one day. This extra 50% off sale is ending tomorrow, so you should try to stop into the store as soon as possible. I find that going in the morning is better because everything is not picked over. Today's deal of the day was the Brown/Rusty Steve Madden Troopas marked down to $60.00 then an extra 50% off made it $30.00, a deal I could not pass up. Originally, the boots are $100. They were even in my size! My friend got the black ones in a size 9, and there was one more pair at the 3rd Street Urban Outfitters store in size 10 up for grabs! I got some knee high socks for only $2.50 as well! I nearly missed the on sale shoes rack. I saw a lot of Jeffrey Campbell heels and the brand Deena & Ozzy. I have these in black, and I absolutely love them! :)

After our trip to Urban Outfitters, we stopped by Brandy Melville where I just bought one burgundy halter top for $11. I really wanted to buy a lot of other stuff but figured it wasn't worth it because they have their warehouse sales nearly every month. I just needed the halter top for a Flume concert that I will be going to. I have only had good experiences in terms of customer service at Brandy Melville despite all of the controversy.

Here is the link to the halter top sold online: http://www.brandymelvilleusa.com/clothing/tops/halters/sachihalter-178.html

As we were heading to American Eagle Outfitters inside the mall at the third street promenade, we stopped at a little hat shop in the middle of the promenade (not an actual store). I bought a straw colored floppy hat that I really love. It was the first floppy hat I found that was actually floppy and the brim was the perfect size. It was a little bit pricey ($25), but I have been looking for months and this was the first one that I have ever really liked.

We went to American Eagle, and there was nothing that I saw on the clearance rack. I usually have better luck online especially with American Eagle. We headed towards our car and got BOGO Free Jamba Juice. I got the White Gummi in the power size. The BOGO Free at Jamba Juice ends tomorrow so go as soon as possible as well!! My coupon wouldn't load, but I told the guy at the register and he said it was fine.
Here is the link to the coupon: http://www.jambajuice.com/campaigns/july-2014-bogo

After Jamba Juice, we went into Wasteland which was a thrift store and a normal store. They were a high end thrift store with high end brands like J Brand, American Apparel, and Tory Burch Jeans. I didn't buy anything, but it was definitely a very cute store.
A picture of everything I bought this week:
Let  me know if you guys have any questions! Thanks for reading as always, and Happy Fourth (late)!!
I forgot to mention that I finally caved and bought Lululemon leggings. They totaled to about $76 with my 15% off coupon that my friend gave me. She told me she got it at the yoga class that she went to held by the Lululemon on Robertson.  I could not pass up this deal because I had been eyeing Lululemon leggings for years now. I got the wunder unders in a size 4. I will have a separate post about them and whether or not they are worth the money after I have worn them a few times.

Walking Adventures

Hello! Long time no blog! Sorry. Hopefully I will be blogging more often this summer because I will have more time, and I really want to remember my last summer before college. Recently, I have not been shopping lately, but don't get me wrong, if I see a great deal, I will get it! Well, actually, the other day I bought The Body Shop Tea Tree Toner. I got the bottle for about $7, and so far I love it. It wasn't an amazing deal, but I have always wanted to try it.

Today, I woke up around 8:30 and made the usual oatmeal and fruit for breakfast before going out to hike Runyon Canyon Park with Megan. We typed in Runyon Canyon Park on google maps and it took us up this narrow residential road which after about 3 or 4 miles ended at the beginning of the trail. Apparently there are many beginnings to the trail. Parking was easy because we got there before 10 and it was a Tuesday morning. We walked around looking for a good view of the Hollywood sign, but the smog made it very unclear. Here is a picture of Megan and I taken by a nice lady on the trail.

After about an hour of hiking, we started heading back to our car. We went to Milk which is an ice cream shop that is famous for their macaron ice cream sandwiches. I was skeptical of the Thai Tea sandwich, but I decided to try it. It was very different, but since I love Thai Tea, I enjoyed the sandwich. I would give Milk 4 stars out of 5 because the prices were somewhat reasonable. The ice cream was delicious, but I thought the macarons were a bit hard. After the hike, I did a few errands on my bike which was very peaceful. I dropped off a Poshmark package at the post office, browsed the Bed Bath and Beyond clearance and dorm section, and dropped off the heels I borrow from Megan at her house. 6:30 PM rolled around, and it was time to cross the third thing off my summer bucket list, try C&O's. The bread rolls were amazing, and the pasta was just good. Nothing special. After dinner with Olive, we decided to walk off our food so we strolled down Abbot Kinney. We stopped at Heavenly Couture and Aviator Nation. I, of course, did not buy anything because I'm trying to spend less money on clothes because I have too much. Also, online shopping is always better!

Thrift Finds!

My friend, Megan, asked me to come to Goodwill with her even though she knows that I have shopping problems. I told myself I would not buy anything that I didn't need or wasn't looking for already. Well, that didn't really work out. I didn't go crazy; I just bought a few things. You will probably see a trend in everything I bought.

Yup, everything I bought was grey. The long sleeve sweater had a green tag, and green was the color of the week so I got it 75% off. It ended up being $1.50! The collared shirt and the pepper-esque sweater shirt were $5 each.

Here is a close up on the chevron pattern on the collared shirt. I love it. I'm planning to pair all of these with my black high waisted levi's or anything high waisted. I ended up spending $11.48 at Goodwill today...

Brandy Melville Warehouse Sale

I wanted to share my experience at the Brandy Melville Warehouse Sale. I went to this sale last week, March 8, 2014. This would be my fourth time going which now that I think about it, sounds pretty crazy. The third time I went was very unsuccessful. A lot of girls showed up to the sale, and at least 300 people didn't even get in, including me (who showed up about 3 hours early). This time around I didn't feel like driving or waking up early. We figured that if we don't get in we can still make the best of it in downtown. My friend and I were both down to take the bus to Downtown LA which was about a 45 minute ride. We had to transfer once when we got to downtown which was a little sketch, but we're safe! We got to the line at around 11 AM and it looked daunting, but we stood in line anyways. We waited a good four hours, and we ended up being the last group to get in. Because we were the last group, everything at the sale was set to $5. Triangle bras and hair accessories were FREE! Inside the warehouse, there are just a lot of boxes and clothes all over the place. There were a few items that I kept seeing over and over again, but I took the time to look through all the boxes and picked up some pieces that were different, things that I liked. After I was done, I went to the side and sorted everything that I wanted to keep and everything I didn't want. I made one more round around all of the boxes and asked people for there "no" pile. Scavenging through people's no pile turned out to be very successful for me. I ended up only spending $40 which is a lot less than what I usually spend (around $100), but I have never been happier with all of my purchases. All in all, I thought it was worth it because I loved everything that I bought, but I definitely didn't find everything I was looking for. I wanted to find a scarf for my mom because she loves their scarves. I found none of the dresses I was looking for either.

Here is everything I bought except for one basic baseball tee that has blue sleeves (currently in the wash).

I finally found a flannel that I love. I have been to thrift stores and I wondered where all of the cute flannels were. Brandy Melville bought all of them, literally. They buy ALL of the cute flannels, so you're forced to pay them $35 for a cute worn in one. Fortunately, I found one at the sale, and I, of course, paid only $5 for it! The dark piece to the right of it is just a blue sweater that retailed for $50!

Here are all of the free triangle bras that I got. I love triangle bras. I'm a true follower in the "Ban the Bra" movement.

Then, I got all of the free hair accessories. I just grabbed a handful for my friends. There were hair ties with bows on them and the headbands with the wire in them. I love the hair ties, but I don't think I can rock the headbands.

It has only been one week, and I have worn almost all my new clothes which is pretty sad. Here are some outfits that I wore:

Denim shirt (Primark), White tank (A&F), Shorts (Brandy), Booties (Steve Madden)

Flannel (Brandy), Tank (American Apparel), Shorts (Free People), Sperry Topsiders

Let me know if you have ANY questions; I would be happy to talk to you guys.

TIPS:

  • Go as early as possible (camp out if you want to be first just be safe)
  • Bring books, phone, headphones, games
  • Go with as many friends as possible
  • Once in the sale, ask for people's "no" pile
  • Check for snags, rips, holes
  • Make sure they take off all security tags
  • Don't buy it just because it's cheap
  • Pick up anything that is remotely cute (maybe your friends will like it)
  • Pick up anything that is unique AT the sale (there are a lot of the same things, so if you see something different, snatch it!)
  • When you're done, go to the side with your friends and sort everything you want to keep

Greetings World!

Hi guys,
This is my first post (obviously), and it’s a little nerve-wracking especially if future me decides to read this. Anyways, I’m Jessica, and for now I won’t tell you my last name, but I’m sure you will find out eventually. I don’t think it’s that big of a deal that you guys know, but all the kids seem to be doing it these days… I’m 17 years old (sagittarius), but don’t get me wrong, I am not into horoscopes at all; I just like my sign for some reason. I wanted to explain my title, Frugal Plus, the main focus of my blog will probably be sharing my frugal finds with you guys, and then the plus will be about my lifestyle and travels. I’m from the sunny state of California, and live in the best city of the best state, Los Angeles! I understand that I’m SO fortunate to live where I live. I never take advantage of my baby (the beach). Bike rides to the beach with my friends have been my past time since the sun finally started coming out. While I’m here, to all 0 of my followers (what are you guys meant to be called, just referring to Twitter), I would like to give a shout out to my inspiration Lauren or LaurDIY on Youtube. I am in love with her Youtube channel, and she started with a blog (http://www.desireandinspire.com). Heeeey, she did INSPIRE me to start this blog, haha, get it? Ok… Pardon my grammar, I don’t even know if commas in parenthesis are appropriate. I am planning to post about fashion, life, and my frugal ways that all my friends wish they had ;). I kid with them and tell them that I would write a book for them. If there is one thing you need to know about me, I DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FOR FULL PRICE (95% of the time). I am planning to share with you guys everything I purchase. I will update you guys immediately so you can get the same price I bought it for! By the way, right now I should be doing AP Chemistry homework, but I’ve got a bad case of senioritis. That is it for now, but my next post will be about my experience at the Brandy Warehouse Sale in Downtown, LA on March 8, 2014. Also, my name is Jessica and I am a shopaholic. Goodnight! :)
PS: I love traveling, I am going to Australia in about 8 days. I had no idea where to put this into the post. I am new to this sorry haha… and I thought this post was plain, so here is a picture I took today at the beach.
